2nd Annual Trail Run/Walk May 7 and 8, 2021

Get your running/walking shoes dusted off and ready!

Friday's 5k trail will start in the horse day-use area (The 5k flag in the pictured map) and follow the Paint Creek Trail to the Nelson Bridge Loop (The blue line directly to the orange line and back).

Saturday's 5k will start in the horse day-use area as well (The 5k flag in the pictured map) and follow Larkin Valley Trail up and the Bluff Trail down (The blue line to the yellow line and back).

Saturday's 10k will also start in the horse day-use area, but a bit further back (The 10k flag in the pictured map). The 10k will bring participants up Larkin Valley trail, down Bluff Trail, along Paint Creek Trail to the Nelson Bridge Loop and back (The blue line to the yellow line to the orange line and directly back to the blue line).

Don't worry if this is confusing, the trail will be clearly marked for anyone not familiar with the route. We won't let you get lost in the forest!

2nd Annual Trial Run/Walk May 7 and 8, 2021

Are you looking for motivation to keep you active during the cold winter months? We have just what you're looking for: Get ready for our 2nd annual trail run in picturesque Yellow River State Forest on May 7 and 8, 2021!

Thank you for your participation!

We thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of your pictures and we hope that everyone enjoyed their time outside--whether at Yellow River or elsewhere.

Everyone who signed up for the race will be getting their t-shirt, we hope you were able to virtually participate! We did have a delay in getting the shirts from the printers, but they all should be mailed out by the middle of this week.

THANK YOU

We can not express enough thanks to the local businesses that sponsored our first Friends of Yellow River State Forest Trail Run.
We know these are uncertain times for some, and we are thankful we were able to hold our "event" virtually.
Please thank these businesses next time you are supporting them in return with your business!

The time has come!

Race day starts tomorrow! Just a few more last-minute updates:

1) We have received some questions about parking: Participants can park near park headquarters, or anywhere in the area of the sawmill as long as they do not block the road, gates, or wood sales shed.

2) Don't forget to take a selfie in front of the Fire Tower! If you don't have Facebook, but would to join in on the fun, please email it to us at rcheffern@gmail.com and we will post it for you.

3) Let's get social! Shoot it. Share it. Hashtag it. #natureisntclosed

Happy trail run/walking!

The trail run is marked and ready for us! Please note that the route will not take you off the established trails. Green and yellow ribbon mark the shared route. If you are doing the 5K, follow the green ribbon. If you are doing the 10K, follow the yellow ribbon. The ribbons are tied about every 50-75 yards along the whole route and there will be a few signs at the intersections. Make sure you take a selfie at the "selfie spot" near the fire tower! We recommend that you print off the race map for your convenience throughout the run/walk. The start/finish line is at the base of Fire Tower Road near the sawmill. Happy trail run/walking!
